You have an interesting setup – looks like a blog with Webmention support, but GNU social for the microblog. Have you enabled the Linkback plugin on your GNU social instance? It seems to support Webmentions!

I don't want a physical machine any longer. Securing against hardware failure is too much of a hassle for me, and for my private stuff is this amount of RAM enough.

nooo I said vServers! their VPS offering!

For some, Black Mirror seems to be a HOWTO guide. I guess if you are going to use sexual shame to make money, Britain is the best place to target.

Heck, looks like we’re living in Black Mirror already…

Some commenter on a youtube review of a mobile VR headset: “would be cool to pair a bluetooth exercise bike with this”. Instantly reminded me of Fifteen Million Merits. The real version will be more immersive, it seems.

Standout quote from the Pussy Riot conversation I attended on Saturday: "it all started on Livejournal".

Yeah, LiveJournal is still “the place for politics” in Russia…

Yeah, because all OSes besides Linux, macOS, Windows and the mobile OSes have been so successful? 😉

heh, I don’t mean, like, actually becoming mainstream. I just want it to not become abandoned.

Speaking of commits, I still don’t see the commit to Quill where you fix the media endpoint query ;-)

If you prefer to use #opensource end user (not infrastructure) products, why is that? I'm writing something and would love your thoughts.

Because I like having the ability to see and modify what it’s doing. Sure, I probably won’t touch the source of large GUI programs like Firefox, LibreOffice, GIMP or Inkscape, but having the possibility is comforting.

Lightroom can import .gpx logs to automatically tag photos. But looks like you’re not someone who would use Lightroom :)

About the timezone problem — do you change the time on your camera when you travel to a different timezone? Why? Why not just let the camera’s clock stay in home time or UTC?

Firefox in Linux just getting worse and worse for me. Frequently locking up the whole browser on js rendered websites now

Have you tried going to about:config and enabling OMTC + e10s + APZ? Firefox works very well on my FreeBSD machines.
